1) Official Letter from English Department is given. Parent to take note and sign at the top right hand corner.
2) Rap template is given as working document for pupil to write lyrics. Helping words are given in a box. Choose words and phrases that are not too difficult from the list. Remember that the rap cannot be more than 4 lines.
3) Parents, please revise the compositions of Star Writers with your son. Sign the paper. Pupil has to hand paper in tomorrow for filing. Thanks!

1) Parent to sign Eng WS Unit 6 on the cover page. The worksheets are not marked yet . I will mark them tomorrow as I did not have sufficient time to mark them today. Children, do Pg 7,9 and 10 on your own. Do not do Pg 8
2) Parents, pls be reminded about the Dress up day for the comic/superhero character. All pupils need to be in costume on 5/3. The official letter from the school should be out this Friday. Pupils will also be paticipating in a costume parade cum rap competition . I have briefed pupils on the above competition and spent time helping them understand what a rap is. They will also be given a template with suitable adjectives for them to write their rap and practise it at home. Parents, you may want to get your son to watch videos from Youtube on on rap performances. Please  do  help your son get started on his rap and costume.

1) Use a blue notebook (any small blue one from a book shop will do) . Cover with wrapping paper or decorate it . Then wrap with plastic sheet. Write name, class and subject- "My Journal" . The journal will be done by pupils on their own at home every weekend . Pupils have to hand in on Monday before school. A topic will be given. Pupils are expected to write at least 2 sentences on their own. Parents can help with the spelling, if needed. The journal will be read by me and I will give a short comment at the end. Grammatical errors will not be corrected by me as I want to use the journal to get pupils excited about writing.
For this week- the topic is "What I like about school"

4) An orange library card has been issued to your son by the Librarian. Please write your son's name , class and BC No on it. Your son can use the card to borrow books from the school library at recess or breaks from Monday onwards.

1) The blue writing book is returned to the pupils for corrections. Pls do corrections using a blue pen. Write out whole sentences ( Those that have errors ) on the same corresponding line on the next page. Pls wrap the book with plastic if you have not done so.
Star Writers- Re-write whole story on given template neatly using a pencil.  Draw and colour the picture.

3) English Language Week - STAGE
    Costume Parade with Rap competition
All pupils will come dressed in their favourite comics hero/ super hero  costume on 5 March 2012, Monday . Costume has to be made from recycled materials. There will be two rounds of competition - class and inter-class. Class prizes - 1st, 2nd and 3rd . The class winner will come dressed in his costume one more time during the prize presentation in Term 2, Wk 1, 20 March and challenge with the other competitors from the level. Top 3 prizes per level.
Marks will be given for creativity of costume and rap, rhythm and lyrics of rap, confidence level and overall presentation. Pupil has to perform his rap in his costume. There should only be 4 lines for the rap . It should be interesting and have a creative rhythm. 
Parents, pls help by discussing with your child and helping him create a suitable costume for the competition. Examples of costumes - Superman, Batman, Snoopy, Garfield, Rin Tin Tin, Archie, The Incredible Hulk, .....

( I would like to apologise for the different font and font size used in this post. There seems to be something wrong with the laptop and the new IT system set up by the Ministry. This aso explains why there seems to be so much typo errors in the posts put up by me recently. I do apologise for that. The school is looking into it and I really hope the problem will be rectified soon.

1) Spur booklets ( Super, Passionate, Ultimate Reader ) have been given. Pupils fill up the different pages ( one page per story book) to collect signatures from me after they have read a book. They can hand in the booklet early in the,morning on the chair in front of the white board when they have finished completing an activity. I will sign and return the booklet to them later. Pupils can only do one booklet at a time.
When pupils have collected 10 points ( as in signatures) , they will receive a badge. Excellent work will enable them to collect more than one signature from me per activity.
2) Complete Unit 4 WS. Check and do all corrections. Parent to sign. Hand in tomporrow.

2) Parents, pls take note that I have ordered a blue writing book for your son. The book is now with him. It costs 50 cents. I couldnt find any plastic cover for it at the bookshop just now . So, pls hep me to cover the book with a plastic sheet to ensure that it doesnt have dog- eared edges aftyer a while (Write your son's name and class on the cover. ) Pls also  pass him 50 cents to pay me tomorrow. 1)  Complete SS Act Book Pg 4 and 5 ( Refer to photocopy of groupwork activity given out to every pupil) . Pupil to choose two friends from list of group members. Parents, please excuse the pupils' handwriting that seems to be untidy. This is the first time they are doing a groupwork activity and they are not familiar with using markers yet.
2) Complete Grammar WB Pg 4.
