1) Comprehension AMODES will be carried out on  Tuesday 23 October. There will be two parts to the test - Graphic Stimulus and  Comprehension ( 5 questions each). - both MCQ and Open-ended

Please revise Comprehension exercises from Units 16 -21 .

I will be returning the Comprehension ex for Unit 21, and another 3 sets of Comprehension exercises that were completed by the pupils in class recently.  Please revise these exercises with your son over the 4 days of PSLE Marking. exercise next week.

1) It is Children's Day Celebrations tomorrow.  School will end at 12.45 pm, not 12.30 pm as stated earlier.
2) Bring a small school bag with a storybook, water bottle and food for the mini  party. Party will start at 10.15 am and end at 11.15 pm. Parents who are helping to set up for the party. please report to the classrom at 9.15 am. Please also help us to clean up after the party because the children will have to report to the Hall at 11.15 am. Thanks so much for your help.
3) Homework for the weekend - Diary - any topic.
Prepare for Poetry Recitation AMODES on Monday.
4) There will not be any entry tomorrow on this blog.
5) The Children's Day Appeal  Envelope is given out. Put the money inside the envelope, seal it and write pupil's name, class and amount on the outside. Hand it  in next Monday

1)  Yeah! Our class, Pr 1-Gen  has won the best suggestion for "KIds Speak Up" term 3. Each pupil has received a plastic  folder
2) I  conducted  Learning Centres for the class today. Basically, there were 4 centres - Word Centre 1, Word Centre 2 , Listening Centre and Drama Centre.

 Choose two animals ( horse - cow- dog- cat-bird-spider-fly ) and write two sentences about them.

Eg -- ( There was an old lady who swallowed a cow. She swallowed the cow to catch the dog.)
Then, draw the two animals - the smaller animal in the bigger animal's tummy. Colour the picture.

1) First of all, I sincerely apologise for not putting up a post on the Class Blog yesterday. I was involved in the Pr 6 Prelim marking and finished it just before 7 pm. So, I had no time at all in the afternoon to do it.

We are appealing for parent volunteers to help out as we are short of volunteers. The recommended number is 6 but we only have 4 presently helping out.  ( Thanks, Mr Long for agreeing to help out despite your busy schedule)
The pupils will be required to bring the following items for the session:

• plastic knife/fork
• melamine /plastic plate
• shoes with laces
• school uniform (to be worn)

1) Your son has been given a piece of pink coloured paper. Choose one day of the week and write a sentence on what the animal(s) or people  did on the farm on that day. ( using the past tense)
Monday- cat ( prowling, looking for mice)
Tuesday - hens (laying eggs)
Wednesday- dog ( rounding up the sheep or chasing the sheep back into their pen)
Thursday - goats (eating weeds and thistles)
Friday - farmers (using their hoes to dig in the soil)
Saturday - Lazy Duck (cleaning up the beetles and bugs)

Write your name , class and title of Big Book- Lazy Duck. Finally, draw a picture of the animal(s) or people doing that piece of work.

1) For pupils who have indicated that they will be staying back after school, I have good news for you. There will be a teacher looking after you while you rest in Computer Lab 1 after your meal. However, there will not be any bathing facilities in school.
2) 10 pupils have indicated that they have lost their speech and drama script. Pls note that I have photocopied the scripts from another pupil and given them a new one. Pls learn by heart as soon as possible.
3) Show and Tell - Pupils who have not completed presentation, pls prepare and bring item tomorrow.

1) Do Unit 16 WS Pg 3,4,5,6,7,8,11,,12,13,16,17 and 18.
Parents, it may seem like many pages but actually, many of them require one word answers and some of them only have a few questions on one page. I have gone over the concepts with the pupils so they should be able to complete the work on their own. Some pupils have even started on some pages during class time.  Thanks for your understanding.

1) Parents, please let me know ( through your son)  if your son is staying back for lunch and eating on his own in the Canteen on 27 May for the performance. ( by tomorrow)  Thanks!
2) Parents, please be reminded about the test for Show and Tell AMODES  that starts next Monday. Your son has to memorise his script and bring his item to show the class. Pls follow the guidelines given at the last AMODES test on Show and Tell.
3) There wasn't enough time for the pupils to do their writing activity today in school. So pupils need to do a writing ex on "A Trip to the Savannah". ( aout 8-10 sentences) on the writing template provided.. Pls write neatly with a sharpened pencil.  Draw and colour as well.

Your son has been given a slip of paper regarding the different costumes for buying or bringing for the above concert. If you have the costumes mentioned in the slip, pls bring them next Monday for the trainers  approval. If you don't have, pls bring the correct amt of  money (as  mentioned in the slip) next Monday.
Staying back in Sch For Lunch
As the pupils only need to report to sch at 3.15 pm on that day, I will be collating names of pupils who will not be going home for lunch . Pls pack the lunch for your son if he is stayimg back. Pls let your son know by tomorrow if he is going home with you for lunch or if he is staying back after sch on that day.

Dinner- I will be getting the Parent Rep for the class to organise dinner for the boys on the 27 May. I will leave it up to the PVs how they want to organise the potluck session or if they prefer to order for the class and get the parents to pay for dinner ( through th son) Pls gve a prompt reply when the reps get in touch with you regardng this.The food will be laid out on the canteen tables by 5 pm, according to class. Pupils will not be allowed to consume fried food. Pupils who are fussy eaters or those with special dietary requirements are to arrange for their own food.  Thanks!

Welcome back to another term at Catholic High. Trust that all of you had a wonderful break during the hols.
1) Bring money for order of Carnival Tshirt made before the break. Each Tshirt costs $15. Money must be paid by tomorrow latest.  A mass SMS was sent out by the General Office to all parents ths morning regarding this.
2) Parent to sign for Star Writers Compos and revise good phrases and structures. Hand in paper tomorrow for filing.

1) Pls compete Holiday homework for English.
2) Pls log on to Ask and Learn portal on the school website . Instructions will be given there about the e-learning. User id and password is the BC no of child. Pls get pupils to complete the activities listed for both English and Maths. The pupils have 4 days to complete them. ( from Thursday 24 May to Sunday 27 May)
3) Results for the Group Competition- term 2. The top group is group 2 and the second group winner is Group 4.  Congrats to Marcus, Anson, Nat, Jeremy, Darius and Langdon. (Top group) Congrats also to Jed, Anton, Lucas, Ren Cher and Tristan. Well done!
4) The School Management has decided to fix hooks behind the doors of Pr 1 and 2 classrooms for teachers to latch onto the wall behind. The hooks will be fixed at a higher position beyond the reach of the pupils. This will be done during the holidays. We hope that this will help ensure our pupils' safety when they move about in the classroms.
5) Pls learn Spelling List 1 for Term 3.
6) Pls hand Travel Plans to G.O. if your son has not handed his  yet.

1) Hand in travel forms by tomorrow. If you are unsure abt your travel plans at the moment, you may submit a 'nil return' for  now and then update your plans with the General Office during the holidays. It is absolutely crucial to inform the General Office about your updated travel plans.

2) Tomorrow is the last day of school for Pr 1 pupils. Pls remember to meet the teachers you have signed up with for "Meet The Parents" session on Thursday 24 May at the scheduled time. Your sons do not have to be present for the meeing. 

3) Holiday Homework for English has been assigned for your child. The package has been given to him. Pls get him to read at least 5 story books and record in the Reading Log provided. He also has to complete a WS on Pronouns, showing the drawing of arrows for Contextual clues  and learn from a Past Tense List. Thanks!

Please arrange the worksheets according to the Contents page , starting with Unit 1 Learning sheets right below. For every set of worksheet filed, please tick the relevant column in the Contents Page to indicate that you have filed the worksheet. For missing worksheets, please look for them and put in the file. In the event that your child has lost a set of worksheets and you are not able to retrieve it, he will have to re-do that set of worsheets.
Please do the same for the purple Writing file.

Deadline for handing in both files after checking is Monday 14 May. ( next week) .

For order of t-shirt for pupil, pls do not pay yet because the cost for it is not confirmed yet. Every pupil has to submit $10 for the carnival stall class adoption. If you are submitting cheques, please staple the cheque to the correct coloured reply slip. Pupils are allowed to order as many coupon booklets as possible. ( Make payment in the form of a cheque and staple to the green reply slip)

The reason why we want separate payments by cheque for the different reply slips is that the payment  goes to different groups. The green form is for payment through the school ( Catholic High School). The blue form is for payment to PSG ( Catholic High School Parents' Committee ) and the yellow form is for payment to Catholic High Alumni.)

2) Rubrics for Show and Tell is given today.  Bring item that represents family ( eg picture or teddy bear )  Remember to include answers for  question words like Who, What, When, How, Why in presentation. Eg  Who are the members in your family? ( Do not add in the questions for your presentation) To be added in the script - " Members of my family include  my father, mother, brother and sister." Do not prepare scripts that are too long. Have between 8 to 10 sentences. Pupil may not be able to remember the words and sentences for their presentation.

5) Parents, please be reminded that AMODES 1 ( Show and Tell ) will be carried out in Week 4 of this term. Next week, we will be holding a mock test on Thursday and Friday on the topic " My Family". Pupils are to bring in an item that reminds them of  their family.

I will be giving the pupils more details on Monday when I see them. The rubrics for the test will also be given to them on Monday. Parents, maybe you would like to use this week-end to discuss with your child what item they can bring in for the mock test next week that reminds them of their family. Also, please be informed that your child can prepare about 8 to10 sentences for the Show-and Tell. They will not be allowed to read from their  script
The topic for the actual Show and Tell Test will be given to your child next week . Pupils will be tested on preparedness, whether they speak clearly, use complete sentences, content, use of good vocabulary and whether they are able to elaborate a little on an  idea used.

1) First of all, I would like to apologise that your sons did not write the homework for today due to time constraint. Secondly, I will be away from school tomorrow. The pupils will be given work to complete in class. Also, I have postponed  the awarding of prizes for the group competition to the first Monday after the school holidays. Sorry about that as I know many of the pupils have been looking forward to it.

1)  We have the 'Costume Parade with Rap' Class competition this coming Monday 5/3/12. All boys will  wear their costumes from home.  They can use it for the whole day. They need not change out of it, even for PE lesson. For pupils with bulky costume, I will do my best to test you before recess so you can get your parents to help change you out of the costume by recess. (10.15 am)  Please  prepare for it. ( 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes are up for grabs! )

2) Rap template is given as working document for pupil to write lyrics. Helping words are given in a box. Choose words and phrases that are not too difficult from the list. Remember that the rap cannot be more than 4 lines.
3) Parents, please revise the compositions of Star Writers with your son. Sign the paper. Pupil has to hand paper in tomorrow for filing. Thanks!

1) Parent to sign Eng WS Unit 6 on the cover page. The worksheets are not marked yet . I will mark them tomorrow as I did not have sufficient time to mark them today. Children, do Pg 7,9 and 10 on your own. Do not do Pg 8
2) Parents, pls be reminded about the Dress up day for the comic/superhero character. All pupils need to be in costume on 5/3. The official letter from the school should be out this Friday. Pupils will also be paticipating in a costume parade cum rap competition . I have briefed pupils on the above competition and spent time helping them understand what a rap is. They will also be given a template with suitable adjectives for them to write their rap and practise it at home. Parents, you may want to get your son to watch videos from Youtube on on rap performances. Please  do  help your son get started on his rap and costume.

1) Use a blue notebook (any small blue one from a book shop will do) . Cover with wrapping paper or decorate it . Then wrap with plastic sheet. Write name, class and subject- "My Journal" . The journal will be done by pupils on their own at home every weekend . Pupils have to hand in on Monday before school. A topic will be given. Pupils are expected to write at least 2 sentences on their own. Parents can help with the spelling, if needed. The journal will be read by me and I will give a short comment at the end. Grammatical errors will not be corrected by me as I want to use the journal to get pupils excited about writing.
For this week- the topic is "What I like about school"
